Thank you Sinù! I love reading about the places I have visited and also want to visit again! I’ve just tracked down three of them and can’t wait for them to arrive! Fantastic!

Ooh these sound delicious! I'll definitely try and track them down. My tbr pile is astronomical unfortunately, but will happily add to the stack! (Maybe if I spent less time on insta I'd actually get some reading done! ) Looks like I've found my new year's resolution xx Merry Christmas to you and yours dear Sinù xx

No such thing as too many books to read :) What's next on your list? I've had zero time for Insta lately, and I do miss all my brilliant pocket friends ;) Wishing you and your family Happy Holidays and a fantastic New Year ❤️

So excited to have these recommendations to build a “Venice stack,” Sinù! They all sound like terrific reads! I recently finished Natalia Ginzburg’s engaging Family Lexicon, recommended by a niece who is currently living in Turin. We’re planning a visit to Italy this spring and I’m realizing the value of doing some advance reading after NOT doing it on so many previous trips. I hope perhaps we’ll make a return visit to Venice--and maybe say hello!🤗 Wishing you all the best during the holidays and in 2024.

Hi Ruth, thank you so much for reading! They are really good books, and a brilliant way to learn the history of Venice in a fun and engaging way - I particularly enjoyed Chasing the Rose, Autumn in Venice and A Venetian Affair! I would absolutely love to meet you Ruth, you will have to keep me posted on your plans ;) Wishing you a happy Festive Season and a fantastic New Year. See you in 2024 🎉

Thanks for the recommendation! I've actually read 4 books set in Venice this year, all from Donna Leone's Comissario Brunetti series. Takes me back to Venice every time.

Hi Oleg, so nice to hear from you :) Thank you for mentioning Donna Leone, I've been wanting to give her detective series a try but never got around doing it. Do check out Andrea di Robilant's books, they go deep into a Venice that's not so common to find in other books, and as a citizen I appreciate them SO MUCH! So glad they're available in English, too. If you're aware of any good books about your hometown do share away.

Wishing you and yours a very happy festive season and fantastic new year :) see you in 2024!

I'll definitely check di Robilant's books out! Donna Leone is fine, very easy-to-read books that can be squeezed in between more serious reading. I never read crime fiction before, but this year we were on holiday in Greece, and the hotel had a little corner with books. Found one of Leone's books and got hooked.

When it comes to books about Vilnius, I remember really enjoying this one -- https://www.amazon.com/Vilnius-City-Strangers-Laimonas-Briedis/dp/9639776440 .

Best of luck in 2024 Sinù!
