Thanks so much for the shoutout! I’m thrilled to be included in your recommendations. I like the idea of a special cookbook column but don’t have any suggestions for names because I’m also crap at thinking of cool names. I called my newsletter Book Chat because I was spending all my time thinking of clever names and not actually doing anything productive. Maybe you could call it something vaguely Italian in keeping with the Dash of Prosecco theme. Big hugs and I hope your back feels better soon.
So you have to know that every Christmas I select one or two mystery novels to read, as this is, for me, the perfect Christmas reading. Guess what I just added to my list for this Christmas? Thank you so much for the inspiration, and for the useful and juicy selection of links to browse through!
Grazie Giulia! I hope you'll enjoy it, I simply couldn't resist the pretty hard back cover 😍 (and thank you so much for recommending Dash of Prosecco, you made my day 🙏❤️)
A pleasant surprise! I say search for the older version of the book (different cover, a bit more spookie), in there Christmas at Abney Hall is followed by Three Blind Mice, which is missing from the new version - to me it was the perfect way to start reading Agatha Christie's work 🙃
What a great idea Sinù, I love it! I also love Agatha Christie. Nothing spells cozy more than reading a cozy mystery i the winter, especially if it involves food!
Thanks Angie!! I'm so glad you like the new column, can't believe it took me so long to realize how fun this could be! Cooking the Books sounds sweet! I was suggested to integrate some Italian terms to continue the "dash of prosecco" theme so I'll need to think it through...
If you have any books to recommend always feel free to share them here 😍 hugs :)
I love leafing through cookbooks! Anything to spend less time looking at a screen. So sorry about the chronic pain, I realize how debilitating that can be.
Yes please to the book thing! And I must work out how you do all this wonderful 'leave a comment' stuff. It makes it so interactive and wonderful.
And sorry to hear about your back pain. I haven't been paying attention and didn't realise you suffer so much from it. My best wishes, I better go I'm in the middle of writing an email and delving in to the Elizabeth period (multi-tasking as always)
August was not a good month for me this year, it brought a bad injury on the first day of vacation (!) and although things are improving now daily life has become a bit of a nuisance with constant pain. I'm learning to be patient :)
Substack makes it easy to start a conversation, doesn't it. Just pop a button in there and you're done :) have you thought of joining the platform? (I do love your letters as they are anyway).
I get a slew of magazines with great recipe and stories. I was thinking of creating a cooking show around them with the concept of the home cook, but it’s hard since they have specifics, but I’m working on some get around. I know I would. love to know more about cooking form books, but never seem to have time to read them all. I spend most of my time on Bread Baking Books. LOL
Oh but I rarely read them from cover to cover (although there are some exceptions), it's just good to have them for inspiration and learning. Magazines seem such fun, I totally support your idea of creating something around them!
Thank you. Although I’m quite upset with Substack right now. I’m trying to move my other newsletter and a podcast over and my past issues of the newsletter wouldn’t post. Don’t know why and getting an answer from support is driving me nuts. I want to move my podcast over also but I’m leery of doing that now.
But maybe I’ll do the magazine thing and we can get together on recipes we find in books and mags?
That must be daunting! How many posts are you trying to move at once? I know it's a lot of work but there's always the possibility that you just ctr copy each post and paste it on here. You should be able to retain images and links, although I'm not sure how fiddly and time consuming it could be if you are going to do it for a large number of posts.
I say yes to our book & magazine columns! Keep me posted ❤️
I’m not sure. I think about 4-5 years of posts. I’m waiting for Substack to help me out, but I fear they won’t be able to do anything. I am saving them on a site called Authory and I think I can link to them on a tab on the newsletter. I need to check that out.
Thank you for saying yes to hooking up with the mag and book columns. It should be fun!

That is a wonderful suggestion Marg, thank you so much, got my brain spinning now 👍🙌
Honestly, I always look forward to your newsletter, happy to recommend it any time!
😘
I am a committed follower of your book recommendations! You have the best taste.
Thank you, feeling very grateful to have you as my reader and foodie friend ♥️
Oh I love this idea! Can't wait to read more of the column.
Thanks Rachel! So happy you like the idea :)
You are so lovely! I’m glad we connected.

Thank you so much for the shoutout, Sinù- I really appreciate it! Also, I love your idea. RE the title, I'd got for something Italian too.
My pleasure! And thanks for the suggestion, it makes perfect sense to incorporate some sort of Italian word :) glad I asked for help!
What a fun idea! Also, I’ve somehow never read Agatha Christie and now I want to read the book you mentioned!

Esatto! It's just so fitting ❄️❄️❄️😘
I imagine this cookbook (first published in 1938!) might be up your alley - https://www.amazon.com/Vilna-Vegetarian-Cookbook-Garden-Fresh-Rediscovered/dp/0805243275
Oleg, I adore you! This looks absolutely intriguing, thank you so much! (there will be a vegetarian cookbooks episode of course)
This sounds a great Idea Sinù. I love cook books too, and love reading about others recommendations
'Cooking the Books' ??

I so agree, especially after a long day at the office 🥴 give me a good book any time!
And thank you so much for your kind words. Doctor says it's not long now before full recovery, so fingers crossed :)
Love this!
Oh that's great to hear, thanks Jolene!
Great idea!
Thank you Diana, it means a lot 😘
And love that photo of the books btw. It's what stopped me in my tracks...

Thank you Paul, that is so kind of you!
